DarkFire San Mai is a bold, high-contrast carbon San Mai pattern built around a tough O-1 tool steel core. The outer jackets are forged from layered 1075 carbon steel, nickel, and copper, creating long flowing lines of warm copper, bright nickel, and dark etched carbon steel.
As the billet is forged and ground, the jacket layers stretch, split, and flow around the core, producing the organic fire-like movement that gives DarkFire its name. After etching and finishing, the 1075 develops a deep dark tone while the nickel stays bright and the copper adds vivid contrast.
Each DarkFire billet is forged individually, so the exact movement and placement of the copper, nickel, and carbon layers will vary from piece to piece, giving every finished project its own distinct pattern.
