Check Out Our Collaboration With The Vegas Golden Knights

Jan 02, 2018 | by Jesse Harber

We in Las Vegas got our first professional sports team in 2017 when the Vegas Golden Knights came to town. They're an expansion team, which means they're a brand new franchise, and so far, they're making Vegas proud.

When they invited us to collaborate, we were honored.

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at our video shoot with the Vegas Golden Knights!

Vegas Forge & the Vegas Golden Knights

In case you didn't figure it out from the name, the Golden Knights have kind of a medieval battle theme. Their home arena has a huge castle in it, their logo is a knight's helm, and they're really into kicking ass.

Blacksmithing is also an ancient art form, especially when it comes to Damascus. Ancient wootz steel (the thing modern smiths are essentially recreating when they made Damascus) has its own mythology, much like the romanticized stories about crusading knights. It's only fitting that the Golden Knights would partner with a Damascus forge.

We showed off our smithy skills for the Golden Knights' cameras.

With cameras rolling, we worked on a specially designed helmet just for the team. The logo served as inspiration for our design.

Vegas Forge normally makes Damascus billets and rods for other people to work. This time, we were crafting a finished product, which is a nice change every once in awhile. We're craftsmen, too.

Working with red hot steel is inherently dangerous, so we were extra careful having a camera crew in the shop with us. Everything went smoothly, and it was a fantastic experience showing off our craft to the Golden Knights guys.

We feel pretty lucky to have been invited to do this shoot. After all, how many forges get the chance to work with a NHL team? The people working with the Golden Knights are great guys, and we think it's awesome that they're already becoming such an important part of the Las Vegas community.

We're pretty happy with the final result of our collaboration.

Thanks again to the guys at the Vegas Golden Knights who reached out. We had a great time, and we're looking forward to seeing you in the playoffs.
